I am passionate about helping children to find their voice and sense of self-expression and to encourage them to believe in themselves and what they have to offer the world . Studying LAMDA is a wonderfully fun and rewarding way for children to do this. - Laura, Lead Coach

In Group LAMDA Sessions, students will get to experience the benefits of studying LAMDA (building their confidence, self expression and performance + communication skills in a fun and rewarding way), as well as the benefits of working with and getting to perform in front of others.

Students will work on bringing to life a variety of material (monologues, speeches or poetry & book extracts - depending on their chosen subject). Through learning how to create a performance that engages an audience, students will acquire the vital skills needed to present themselves confidently and expressively which they can take into any situation they go onto face in their life.

Students work towards preparing their pieces to perform off by heart in a LAMDA Exam. These prestigious exams are graded (with certificates awarded) and considered an amazing achievement recognised and viewed highly by educational institutions.

Whilst students are preparing to take exams individually, the added bonus of In Person Group LAMDA is the opportunity to work as part of a group. Students not only get the experience of performing in front of each other, but also working together in group exercises where they grow their team work and group communication skills in a fun and uplifting environment.

The Sessions

In person sessions will be 1 hour long and start with improvisation and expression exercises (helping children not only to build their performance skills but also to think on their feet and tap into their creativity). We will also include vocal technique exercises that help students learn how to project their voice and utilise clear articulation.

The session then moves onto some independent study for a section of the class where I rotate working with students individually to help them develop their performances and progress in their preparation for their chosen subject.

There is then time left at the end for students to take turns to present their pieces to the rest of the group where some further coaching may be implemented that allows for further progression of student’s skills, both by receiving feedback personally and by learning from their peer’s work.

My Approach

I believe that the way to truly empower students, and help them build life-long confidence and skills, is to create a nurturing and uplifting environment for students to flourish in. Although my students' results speak for themselves - with a 100% pass rate, and 80% of those results being high level Distinctions - what I teach and how I teach is much more than simply passing an exam.

Yes, students will be taught and prepared to take their LAMDA Exam of choice and encouraged and coached to deliver to their highest potential. That sense of achievement that students gain from this structured syllabus, graded exam and exciting certificate is a wonderful celebration of the entire process.

However, what excites me most about teaching LAMDA is who the student grows into along the way. I am most passionate about how the journey can help a student blossom into the most confident, self-assured, expressive version of themselves, with an empowered mindset and a strong sense of self-belief.
